Rayn surveys involve direct interaction with your users and can be used to enrich the data set. The surveys can be used to increase the confidence score of existing cohorts or as training data to create new cohorts.

Surveys and Distributions

A survey contains one or multiple questions and up to five answer options per question. The questions and answers can also be entered in multiple languages to allow for multi-language support. A single survey can be used across one or multiple channels using distributions. Distributions also govern all the conditions under which a survey is shown including targeting, frequency, and design. Read more on survey distribution here.

Creating a new survey

Navigate to Surveys by clicking on Interact in the left-hand menu. In the survey overview screen click New.

Translations

Manage multiple translations of your survey by adding additional languages.

Surveys can be displayed in multiple languages. The survey distribution configuration will determine which language to show under which circumstance. Survey questions and answer options will need to be entered in the required languages to allow for multi-language support. Rayn will use the writers' browser language as the language for the initial question. The question language can be adjusted via the drop-down menu in the top left corner.

Controls

The question control panel on the right-hand side of the question provides controls for:

  • Adding a new question

  • Duplicating a question.

  • Deleting a question. (At least one question needs to remain.)

  • Adding a thank you page

  • Adding a new header

  • Adding a new footer

  • Adding a tooltip

Question

Rayn surveys currently only consist of multiple-choice questions. Write a short and concise question. Read more about tips and tricks for writing strong questions.

Question Type

Choose whether a user can select only a single answer (radio buttons) or multiple answers (check boxes).

Single selection can be used in:

  • Ratings (like NPS or CSAT) (How likely are you to recommend Demo Product to a friend or colleague?)

  • Yes/No (Was this page helpful?)

  • Age Validation (Are you over 24?)

Multi-selection can be used in:

  • Interests (Which other brands do you prefer?)

  • Questions (Where multiple answers can apply)

Answer options

Add at least two and up to five answer options.

Emoji

In case you would like to use emoticons in the survey answer options you can use the symbols keyboard.

To toggle the emoji keyboard:

  • on Mac OS πŸ‘ press Control + Cmd + Space.

  • On Windows πŸ‘Ž press the Windows logo key + . (period).

Description (optional)

A description can be added optionally to provide more context around the question. The description field can be added via the menu in the bottom right corner of the question panel.

Button label (optional)

This option is only available in case the question allows multiple answers. Change the default text on the button to proceed to the next question. The button label field can be added via the menu in the bottom right corner of the question panel. Note: Make sure that in case you are using multiple translations you do not forget to also change the button text for the translations.

Header and Footer (Optional)

An optional header or a footer can be shown above or below the questions. The header and footer consist of a Title and a Description text. The Title or Description are not shown in the survey if the input field is left empty. The header and footer can be added using the menu shown on the right of the question.

Tooltip (Optional)

In case you want to convey more information to your customers and you want to limit the amount of copy in the survey UI then you can use a tooltip. The tooltip is accessible via a toggle ℹ️ that is placed behind the Description text of the header, question or footer. After enabling the tooltip from the menu shown on the right of the question you can choose the position of the toggle.

Thank You πŸ₯³ (Optional)

Treat your users to some confetti by showing an optional "thank you" screen after the user answers all questions. The Thank You can be added using the menu shown on the right of the question.

Next Step

After saving a new survey you can add it to one or multiple distributions.

Publishing Changes

If you wish to publish changes to a survey that is already live. Then make sure that you also publish the distribution after saving your changes in the survey.
